Other than form 8910 No other docs needed for Tax Credit? Not even a VIN?

Other than form 8910 No other docs needed for Tax Credit? Not even a VIN?
Completed my return with TurboTax.
Received full $2600 credit per their calculations, but I find it more than a little strange that no supporting documentation is required for the credit other than form 8910. Am I wrong?
Of course the threat of a felony is probably enough to dissuade most from falsely claiming the credit, but the form only requires Make/Model/In Service date and you don't have to attach substantiation of purchase with the return. Heck, people have robbed banks for less than $2600.
TurboTax didn't even ask for the VIN #. I am very surprised that with the relatively significant dollar amount of this credit that the IRS doesn't at least require the VIN, leading me to believe they aren't even going to verify that those claiming the credit actually purchased the vehicle. I financed externally and don't recall giving the dealership my social security number so I'm wondering how this is tracked.
I'm about to send off my returns but wanted to bounce this out to the community in case a brain fade has caused me to miss something.
Thoughts?

Today I got my tax refund of $1800 entirely from the TCH rebate. Took all of a 12 days after I e-filed with TaxACT. I 'm retired, no earned income to declare; I was limited by the amount of tax withheld from pension and investments. It was like icing on the cake.
