Exclamation Best Ever MPG on a long Trip

Occcasionally on short trips (<50 miles), I have seen 50 to 51 mpg. Just got back from a trip to Palm Springs, round trip was 250 miles. Achieved 52 mpg going there and 51 mpg coming back.

This car is unbelievable!

I think I'm really learning how to maximize the FE. One day I hope to be able to get a whole tank at 5O mpg. That would really be something.

I don't know much about that area, but that route has to be as flat as a board. I simply cannot understand how I could ever get that kind of mileage where I live (in hilly NC).

Sure, but driving on the shoulder at 40 MPH with your tires at 70 PSI just isn't safe.

Very impressive. I'm taking my TCH on a long trip in July and hope to get in the low 40's.

+1 I live in east TN and have the same problem. I took a trip to Maryland and achieved about 38 on the way up and 34.5 on the way back. Just too many hills. I have learned to get decent mileage on my daily commute. I average over 41 on a tank of gas if most of my driving is going to and from work...
