Default Retired Toyota Electric tech

Just found this forum. I worked for Toyota for several years as a electric forklift technician. When I started they were still using DC motors and of course no Litho batteries.
I have always had an interest in EV technology but also have wondered why they have gone the direction they have.
It always been my belief a hybrid should also have a gas engine to charge the battery when needed. The railroad has used that system for many years.
Now I'm sure I'm missing a lot here because our government wants gas vehicles eliminated but I don't see that happening.
Electric motors have the potential to be much more powerful for energy used than any gas engines.
So I'm here to learn a bit more about the technology.
I plan on building a hybrid with a small one-cylinder engine to power a generator, The Primary power source will be a litho battery.

Lots of practical folks out there working on solutions to the push for EV's that seems to have outstripped practicality and common sense... even some Tesla drivers Hahahahah

Welcome! I'm new here as well.
Just bought my first hybrid and am enjoying the experience.
Agree with you that it is delusional to think that hydrocarbons are "going away" !
Here is my first post on bringing back my "bricked" Escape
Check it out if you are curious.
