Hello-

The name's James, I have a 2004 Seaside Pearl BC Prius...loving every minute of it! I'm in Orange County, California...the Prius capitol of the U.S.? I've already seen almost a dozen "in the wild"!

I ordered my Prius on October 21st, the day after I test drove a BC Super White. I received my car on November 25th, pretty quickly. I think the "squeaky wheel" effect may have helped.

I had only seen the white color when I placed my order, so I randomly put three colors on the deposit form (I couldn't order one without choosing three colors) and hoped none would be too ugly. I was assured that my color choices wouldn't keep me from being offered the first BC (#9) package that came in, and each thereafter until I liked a color as I saw them.

WRONG...in the end I was told the District Manager had some say in that...and I was passed up a couple of times before I learned, in a random phone call to my Fleet Manager checking on status of cars coming/going, that there was a Seaside BC (the second random color choice of three on my form) sitting in front of the dealership waiting for the DM to show up and drive it to another dealership for delivery to somebody who had Seaside as their #1 choice! The DM was holding me back until a Super White BC came in, it was the first color I had randomly written on my form (even though I had called and emailed to tell them that I wanted to move Tideland to #1, but had been told it wouldn't matter if they did).

I jumped in my truck and drove over to see the color, then told them I would buy it. I had seen the Tideland by that time, and really love that color...but I liked this one almost as much. Apparently, they are not allowed to say no if a car hasn't actually been sold...so they sold me the car before the DM got there to pick it up!

Who knows how much of what you're told is true and how much is crap...but I do know that I wouldn't have this car if I hadn't called to ask if I could see any cars they had received, under the pretence of just wanting to see all the colors!

South Coast Toyota in Costa Mesa, California was really good to deal with and I know they have moved a lot of these already. They must have sold a lot of the previous model/years Prii.

Thanks, Jason, for a nice site.

Now that we know your life story...

Glad to have you. Gotta fix that avatar problem, though, eh?
