The outer size means nothing.
Prius 96 cu.ft Passenger Volume is larger than Civic 91 cu.ft, period.

The EPA's category is based on the total utility space.
The Civic CNG is 91 cu.ft + 6 cu.ft because of a large CNG tank, then it goes to subcompact category, less than 100 cu.ft total.

It makes the subcompact category because of the longer hatch-back roof-line. H

I'm referring to Civic CNG subcompact 4 door version as same as the HCH2 body size.

Would you please show us any pointers for the hatch-back version of the Civic CNG?

Thanks in advance,

It is interesting how they determine things, but I think most people compare these two cars when purchasing. The hatch and fold down seats have been the big selling feature for Prius, and a few other things.H

I see you're talking with just your feelings than the EPA's official size categories.

Again, would you please show us any pointers for the hatch-back version of the Civic CNG?

Thanks in advance,

Umm have you never used a station wagon?

Having owned 3 Honda hybrids and 1 Toyota I have no particular brand preference, but I have to say that after looking at the Honda Prius, you'll probably get 3-4 small bags of groceries back there plus your 15" laptop.

Without being able to put the seats down and load it up, I don't think it's even going to be good for a run to the recycling center (but then... if you hit the brakes, you've got newspapers all over the inside of the car anyway...)

Except that to do so would be pretty much an Exact copy of the Toyota Prius, I don't see why they didn't go for making the car more useful for day-to-day family use, rather just high MPG trips to the office/the mall.

This still leaves us shopping for another "crossover" to drive to grandmas for the weekend, go to Home Depot to get an 8' board, or take all the recycling to the center.

The Honda Prius is not nearly as "Practical" a car as the Toyota version.
