Santa Barbara to Vancouver B.C and back
Just returned from a 2750 mile round trip journey in my HCHII from Santa Barbara CA, to Vancouver B.C. to pick up my gf's belongings and bring them back to Cali.
I used the AC set on auto and varied the temp btwn 72 to 77 degrees.
I tended to drive at the speed limit or 5 mph over. Speed generally ranged from 60 to 75 mph. I would estimate that I averaged between 68 to 70 mph for the entire trip.
I estimate 90% Highway miles. 10% city driving.
2750 miles, 58 gallons of gasoline, hand calculated mileage at 47.44 mpg for the roundtrip. Fuel cost $175.
Car was nearly empty with just myself on trip to Vancouver and car was packed full, and carrying a lot of weight on the return trip.
In my opinion, the largest factor in my fuel economy was the wind direction. It appeared that regardless of my speed and the weight carried in the vehicle, if I was riding into a strong headwind, my FE was hit hard (40 to 43 mpg according to the gauges.) When I had a strong tailwind according to the gauges I got 50+ mpg)
Just some data for whoever might be interested
