Honda Civic Hybrid code issues...
So I've perused the threads here and on other sites and I've found very little about my car's specific situation.
I have a 2004 Honda Civic hybrid throwing P1600 and P1601 codes only - no other associated codes. (I know these usually pop up in conjunction with other codes pointing at more specific issues.) My primary mechanic doesn't do hybrid battery work, so I need to take it to another garage to get checked out. I was hoping someone may have had some experience with this situation or have a thought on why only these codes would be coming up.

I suspect it's a code reader limitation. P1600 is a general IMA fault. No idea what P1601 may be.
Try different code readers.
I suspect you will eventually find it's the IMA battery.
Good luck,
Steve

That's what I figured - just thought I'd see if it was possible that something else was triggering the lights. I can't pass the California smog test with the CEL illuminated, unfortunately.

"California smog test"???????
I have had my 2003 HCH1 since day one. I'm up to 255,000 miles now and have gone through 3 IMA batteries. I have NEVER had a smog check. Never even been required to by the State of California. Just pay the registration fee and drive on.

They were brought into the program April, 2015:

Your next registration renewal will require a smog check.
Good luck,

Well, that's a bummer. Just renewed last week. Still no smog check required. Tag now good until April 2017. Guess I'll have to get it checked next year. (If I still have it, knock on wood)
