I know what you mean but 59 cent per gallon in the same town is a big spread. If you don't think so then think about those stations and who is selling more gas. With times being tough for so many people is your looking at paying $69 vs. $80.80, thats enough to go to the other station. The spread of regular to premium does not apply as he was talking regular vs. regular i believe.

Right, if you're referring to my previous post, two up, I tried to emphasize I was talking about a different spread aspect. 54c between 87 and 92 is a way bigger...umm...premium for premium...than I've ever seen before.

3.50 hasn't made it to Charleston, SC yet.

I saw 3.69-3.75 as the low range this morning.

I think I'll try to wait until next week to buy gas and see if it will fall...

Well to make a short story long

Last Wednesday 7/23, gas was $3.83 at my usual stops (i.e. lower priced) in Columbia, SC. Got to Myrtle Beach Wednesday afternoon and gas is around $4.00 (3.97-4.02). Friday someone else going the same route noted that gas in Florence @ I-95 was $3.57. That was at gas stations not known for low prices. On Sunday returning to Columbia, gas was $3.90 in MB, $3.53 Florence, and $3.70 in Columbia. Sure the gas stations in MB are going to gouge the summer crowd, but I would've expected the same on the NY-Miami I-95! Checking the local gas reporting web sites, I found that two pockets in Columbia had gas under $3.50. I assumed the others would follow, but nope! So I did my part and bought some gas at lunch today.

Looking at the map, I think we can see a corelation between alternative energy sources such as wind and e85 and lower populations per square mile compared to the higher priced areas. Not looking to get bashed here or get into a deep dive on data, but think about how much corn is in Iowa and Wind Power. Look at Texas. They are doing serious oil research there again from what I understand, plus they have tons of wind farms and the population per square mile as a whole is low. Very interesting....

Never mind my spelling...

In the D.C. area, so far it's dropped to $3.77 in Maryland, $3.99 in D.C., and it's still slightly over $4 in NoVa.

$3.48??? Man, we're behind the curve here in Salt Lake! It's still around $4.09 here, and all of our gasoline comes from local oil wells refined in local refineries!

We live on the Treasure Coast of Florida. It's about $3.81 here. Just got our Civic Hybrid on Saturday and hoping not to fill up for a couple more weeks It came 2-4 weeks earlier then expected...fine with me! Mainly city driving...1x a week highway. How often is everyone filling, so I have an idea??
