anyone need a Carfax done???
I work at a local car dealer(I'm actually a small part owner of the place).
Someone posted rather negatively here that I am a "used car salesman" which gave me a good chuckle although it is true in a way I suppose. The way we do business is a bit different than a "traditional dealer" in that we price our vehicles as close to wholesale as possible & then do not negotiate AT ALL on the price, so our salesmen have it rather easy compared to the old way of doing things(we rely on volume, we sold over 200 cars in February which is the "slow season".)
Although I do sell an occasional car(mainly to friends/acquaintances), my main gig is IT manager & computer hardware & network support(I wrote some of the code for our website also).
I have access to both Car fax & Autocheck as I use them daily on vehicles we take in trade or buy from the wholesale dealer auctions & I can run a check for free for anyone here who wants/needs this service.
For anyone who wants, post the VIN # here for the vehicle in question & I will run both checks & post the results here. For some reason, Carfax picks up a lot more "incidents" than Autocheck in most cases although neither one is even close the foolproof(I see cars all the time with obvious collision repair that show a completely clean Carfax)

Re: anyone need a Carfax done???
Hi John. How awesome of you to offer this to board members. My wife and I are about to plunge into our first hybrid, its an 06 mercury mariner, so we are doing alot of research.
Local dealer is asking 20,900 for a 2006 with 14K miles on it and all basic options. So no frills really.
I figured this maybe a better deal then leasing an 08 hybrid escape for close to $360 per month. What do you think? I hope the dealer comes down on the price a bit and helps us find financing... In either case, could you please run a car check report for us?

Thanks in advance,
P.S. Please email results to ( and rew@bigtimeworldwide.com ) (remove spaces please).
Thanks a million in advance,
Andy
