2009 Ford Escape Hybrid idle for 4 months, Cant jump start
Hello everyone,
I have 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid with 76K miles . I was away from home for 4 months because of covid. When I tried to start it, it could not jump start it.
When I went to AAMCO repair shop they are saying that the hybrid battery is dead and you need to replace it and quoted 5K for repair.
While I was researching , I found that we could charge the hybrid battery with HLG-120H-C350A charger. When I asked the same to the AAMCO guy, he said that your battery is 0V and it cannot be charged.
Is it true that we could not charge the Hybrid Battery if its goes to 0V.
Please help me what should I do.
Thanks

The AAMCO guy doesn't know what he's talking about, and he's probably lying. Almost impossible for the HV battery to be 0V. He wants to charge you $5K for a repair you don't need.

Search this forum for S Keith's extensive and detailed threads on recharging dead batteries. It's something you would need to do yourself, as few local shops would take it on. But it's not rocket science, and the cost is very low.

You will need to buy a charger and make the hookup to the battery. Find the thread on here. I had to do it and it worked great. My battery came back good as new and it sat for a lot more than 4 months. You have even less mileage on the clock.
Look on amazon, for the charger as they are getting hard to find due to covid. Your mouser lead time is 20 weeks. I had to get the one with the dimmer.

Why? Commercial grid chargers for Hondas have had DC power supplies wired together in this manner for a decade.

Hello Keith.. Thanks for the reply. I got the HLG-120H-C350A charger.
I'm trying to build charger but I'm not finding any definitive guide for building a charger. I'm pretty novice when it comes to repairing cars . I don't know what's diode and how to use it.
Could you please guide me or point me where I could find this information.
Thank again for helping me out.
