72% of Rental Car Customers Want Hybrid Option
Seventy-two percent of travelers want rental car companies to offer hybrid vehicles, according to a Priceline.com survey of rental customers. A similar number of the 764 customers who answered the survey said they would rent a hybrid and almost half said they would be willing to pay a premium for their green rental. |
Re: 72% of Rental Car Customers Want Hybrid Option
Coincidentally, a little earlier this afternoon I was checking on Prius rentals. For Hybridfest, I'll probably fly into O'Hare and rent a car from there. None of the rental outlets (at one of the busiest airports in the world) apparently has a Prius in their inventory. If I rent a Prius, it looks like it will be from a Toyota dealer.

I think it has less to do with wanting a hybrid as a rental car and more to do with wanting to test drive one longer than a dealership will let them.

Either way, it looks like there's a lot of unfulfilled demand here...
The few times I've tried to rent a car in Ontario and asked for a hybrid, there hasn't been one available, and the premium is much more than the one proposed in the survey... |
Re: 72% of Rental Car Customers Want Hybrid Option
I would love to rent a hybrid. Maybe because it would cost me less to refill the tank.

I'm odd man out again. I will rent anything but a hybrid, because I want to beat the hell out of it. ;)
