Aux pump question

Does the Aux pump run while in neutral gear while the engine is running??

Re: Aux pump question

I don't think it's on. I'd have to check again. but the current from the hybrid battery drops a lot when you put it in neutral. I think it turns off.

I can check next time i have the scanner on it. what are you trying to do?

Re: Aux pump question

it runs off the 12 volt supply then onto a rectifier to 3 phase 14.5VAC the Fuse value is 60amps so i'm guessing it's pulling about 40amps

so that would be about 1.5 amps at 320volts

engine on in neutral when the wheels are spinning..

600RPM would save quite a bit of gas on a 8 miles stretch that is 98% down hill

Re: Aux pump question

I just happened to check about 15 minutes ago. And there's a 50% request on the aux pump anytime it's in Auto Stop no matter what gear you're in. As soon as you start the engine it goes to zero. It never varies from around 50% more than a few percent flicker Driving it in electric mode. it doesn't change up or down

I looked and couldn't find line pressure anywhere but duty cycle request should mean it's running

there's a line pressure port on the side of the tranny, you could put a manual gauge on and check if it's got pressure in neutral. or maybe an amp clamp on the power wire heading to it?

I just looked at the requested duty cycle for the aux pump with a tech 2 and saw it was requesting 50% any time the engine was in auto stop, in gear or not. soon as the ice starts the % drops to 0. under commanded % for the aux pump it doesn't have the option to go up to 100%, so I'm just guessing that 50% is what it normally runs at.

I just took a quick look while doing something else with the tech 2. there's might be more details to when it runs. but also eh, I don't know if trying to drive around shifting into neutral to save a little bit of battery power is the best thing to be doing anyways.
